The future of the consumer/business electronics industry is bright, but just as the horse and buggy was not destined to rule, the old style PC is not destined to rule the future.

Many companies are working toward that goal, heck even MS has seen the writing on the wall, if rumors on development of Windows 7 is even remotely true, people want their UMPC and smart phones and integrated devices that they can take with them. What they want is a "device" which is easy to use and stylized. People don't want a big beige box sitting on their desk which can run nearly anything, with enough effort, anymore. Apple has figured out where the market is heading and working very hard to be on the forefront of that trend. Honestly, isn't that what 99% of business computers are used for now? I know that I primarily use Office and Firefox (this is discounting CAD/CAM which will nearly always insure a niche market for the old PC). So in a decade when a company buys a "computer" from Dell will it really be a "computer" or will it essentially be a $100 complex typewriter (capable of running an office suite and connecting to the internet)?

In many cases, Mac is becoming a standard option for organizations. The all-in-one machine is being splintered into many specialized machines, and the new all-in-one is getting smaller and going mobile. While Mac has always been a part of certain departments and a key platform in vertical industries, corporate buying has increased in recent years. I have long held that the "computer" as we know/knew it is a dying concept. And in many ways this might well prove to be the winning solution. Why? Because as a company they don't seem to care to. At this time I do not see Apple gaining much market share of business "computers".
